Emergency Housing for Decatur's Women and Children
The Careage House was established by God's Shelter of Love to provide emergency housing to women and children. This homeless shelter, a 16-bed emergency overnight shelter for women and children, operates from 8pm-7am, (May 1st-August 30th) & 5pm-7am (September 1st-April 30th). We provide a safe peaceful place to stay, a hot shower, a chance to get clothes washed, and caring hostesses who are available to talk, pray or just be there during a rough time in their lives.
We also offer a bedroom downstairs that can be reserved for women with children so they can maintain privacy.
An evening meal is provided through individuals, churches, and other community organizations from September 1st-April 30th. Also, one night a week members of the Macon County Chat team come in and try to make sure everyone is getting whatever resources they need and are entitled to.
