God's Shelter of Love was born out of a calling of a group of devoted Christians in Decatur.
Recognizing the urgent need for emergency shelter for homeless families, they came together in April 1990 with hearts full of compassion and faith. By November 4, 1991, through God’s abundant blessings, we opened our doors on E. Marietta Street, ready to serve as the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need.
In April 1993, God’s grace enabled us to secure property at 929 North Union Street. Today, we continue our mission from this blessed location, providing emergency shelter for homeless women and children. Our outreach extends through Blessingdales, a retail thrift store whose proceeds directly support our ministry. |
Today God’s Shelter of Love is more than a shelter—it’s a sanctuary of hope, help, and healing. We are dedicated to offering a loving hand to women and children facing homelessness, guided by the spirit of Christ’s love and compassion. With every act of service, we strive to reflect the light and grace of Jesus, bringing His hope to those who need it most. God bless you for your support and prayers. Together, we can continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus, providing help and hope to our community. |
