Emergency Shelter
The Careage House ​

The Careage House was established by God's Shelter of Love to provide emergency housing to women and children. This homeless shelter, a 16-bed emergency overnight shelter for women and children, operates from 5pm-7am seven days a week, 365 days a year.

We provide a safe peaceful place to stay, a hot shower, a chance to get clothes washed, and caring hostesses who are available to talk, pray or just be there during a rough time in their lives.

We also offer a bedroom downstairs that can be reserved for women with children so they can maintain privacy.
​An evening meal is provided through individuals, churches, and other community organizations.
Also, one night a week members of the Macon County Chat team come in and try to make sure everyone is getting whatever resources they need. 
This is a low-barrier shelter with little to no requirements for entry. Some guests stay for a single night; others stay for an extended period of time.
We currently do not have time limits, although we follow Housing First protocols and work diligently to get safe, affordable housing for all.

God’s Shelter of Love Main Shelter

Women (and their children) who show commitment to being substance-free and investing in themselves long-term are eligible to stay at our 24 -hour shelter, God’s Shelter of Love.
While staying at this 8 bed shelter, guests have their own room but share community spaces including a kitchen, dining room, living room, and porch. ​

We also work extensively with them for whatever they need including employment/resume assistance, getting signed up for long-term assistance, childcare/parenting assistance from local partners, mental health evaluation, education, and housing within 90- 120 days.
The goal is for them to be set up with safe, affordable housing and  the support structure they need to begin a successful step forward in their journey.
